The context
Bringing high-value classic vintage cars into China for commercial display presents unusual logistical and regulatory difficulty. Vehicle import policy is strict, and any display that is both prestigious and compliant requires uncommon execution knowledge across customs, bonded structures, and official channels.
Our solution
ArtShelf structured a workable route by combining cross-border trade knowledge with official exhibition resources. We leveraged the China-Hong Kong channel and the Jiading Bonded Zone to manage the vehicles' entry pathway, then used the China International Import Expo special channel to legally admit the cars as official exhibits. From there, we supported the transition into a regular bonded display at The Peninsula Hotel in Shanghai.
- Designed a compliant customs strategy for high-value vintage vehicles.
- Used bonded-zone and cross-border trade channels to unlock entry.
- Activated the CIIE special exhibition pathway for legal admission.
- Enabled a prestigious bonded display at The Peninsula in Shanghai.
The impact
The result was a smooth and compliant luxury display that elevated the hotel's brand prestige while achieving what is often considered exceptionally difficult in practice: lawful, high-touch entry and exhibition of classic collectible vehicles in China.
